The Saratoga Youth Lacrosse Association was formed to provide an instructional, competitive lacrosse program for the youth of our community. SYLA will allow children to participate in a "learning" league to expose and encourage the game of lacrosse. SYLA is a member of the Capital District Youth Lacrosse League along with many neighboring youth community teams.
The "Learn to Play" program is geared towards boys and girls in Kindergarten through 2nd grade that will focus on basic skills. The required equipment for this level is a lacrosse stick (a mouth guard is recommended). Instruction will be provided by trained coaches and a "nerf" ball will be used, therefore no pads, helmets or goggles are needed.
The Boys 3rd through 8th grade program will include instruction, skill building and game experience. The teams will be comprised of three levels of play; 3rd & 4th graders – 5th & 6th graders and 7th & 8th graders. These teams will play games on our home fields at The Saratoga PBA and also travel to the neighboring communities for away games.
New this Year – we want to field at least one girl’s team at the 3rd and 4th grade level which is about 15 girls. This program will include instruction, skill building and game experience. This team will compete in the Capital District Youth Lacrosse League against other teams in the Capital District
